Friends of The Smith Lecture: Increasing Access To The World Cultures Collection

Join Nicola Wilson, Collections Manager of the Stirling Smith to learn more about her latest project, Increasing Access to the World Cultures Collection, generously funded by Museums Galleries Scotland. This project aims to increase both physical and digital access to the Smith’s world cultures collection. She will tell us about some of the fascinating objects in this collection as well as the Stirling people who collected and brought them back from their travels.

Nicola Wilson is Collections Manager at the Smith. She has specialisms in both social history curation and collections management. Her research interests lie in women’s history, subcultures and contemporary collecting. The Increasing Access to the World Cultures project focuses on objects from around the world, donated to the museum during its formative years. These both help to tell the stories of Stirling people who spent time abroad and enable us to interpret the cultures of the countries they visited.

All lectures take place at the Smith, at Albert Place, Stirling, on Wednesdays at 7.30pm (doors open 7pm)
Admission is by cash at the door and includes tea or coffee and biscuits afterwards
£5 Adults
£4 Members of the Friends
£2 for students, on production of a valid student ID card
