Friends of The Smith Lecture: The Fords of Frew

Our city archaeologist makes a welcome return to explain how people crossed the Forth before there was a bridge at Stirling. According to tradition, the Fords of Frew are the only crossing point on the river west of the city. They were refortified by King Kenneth II; Bonnie Prince Charlie and Montrose both crossed here. Murray Cook guides us through the facts and fables of Scotland’s forgotten frontier, which divided Picts from Northumbrians.
All lectures take place at the Smith, at Albert Place, Stirling, on Wednesdays at 7.30pm (doors open 7pm)
Admission is by cash at the door and includes tea or coffee and biscuits afterwards
£5 Adults
