Friends of The Smith Lecture: Stirling’s Prime Minister
Not far from The Smith stands the statue of the only Prime Minister the Stirling constituency has thus far produced, Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman. In his fascinating account of how ‘CB’ led the Liberals to a colossal victory in 1906, overturning a huge Tory majority, Ian Cawood, Associate Professor in Modern British Religious and Political History at the University of Stirling, sees parallels with the challenge and opportunity faced today by Labour’s Keir Starmer.
