Forth Valley Friends of Scottish Opera: Michael Downes on Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Michael Downes is Director of Music at St Andrews University and founder of Byre Opera, and he writes and lectures widely on opera. He will talk about Britten’s operatic version of Shakespeare’s play, which combines wonderfully atmospheric music with a libretto consisting almost entirely of Shakespeare’s own words.

Admission £5, free to students, including refreshments.
