The Stirling Smith has a strong art collection and regularly mounts exhibitions on European, British and Scottish art topics from its own holdings.
The history of Scottish and English watercolour painting is well represented in the Smith collections. Leading lights from Old Watercolourists Society (OWS) represented include Charles Branwhite, David Cox, James Duffield Harding and William Henry Hunt.
Bodycolour works are included. Worthy of note is the painting of Stirling castle gates by Irish Artist Thomas Walmsley (1763 – 1806) and the view of Bridge of Allan by Stirling-based artist MacNeil Macleay (1806 - 1883).
