Archaeology Collection
The Smith Art Gallery and Museum is the official store for all archaeological material discovered in Stirling District as well as earlier material from Stirlingshire. Finds from sites run by Historic Environment Scotland are stored separately in Edinburgh. It includes small individual finds and organised excavation material from the 1870’s, when the museum opened, until the present day. We have over 1800 individual objects covering the periods from the Bronze Age to the 18th century.
