The Smith Museum has items from around the world which were donated during the early years of the museum.
In most cases these reflect the activity of Stirling residents and families who spent time abroad for
- business purposes as managers and salesmen,
- missionaries acting on behalf of churches and missionary societies
- soldiers and civil servants on behalf of the British Empire
- To start a new life in Australia or New Zealand
These collections can help us tell the story of Stirling people abroad over the last 200 years as well as allowing us to interpret the cultures of these countries.
The Americas (south and north, Peru, Chile and southern states of the United States) also feature in our collections.
