The Stirling Smith is pleased to host artist Paul Eames’s newest exhibition, The Story of Flight. Inspired, in part, by objects of flight from the Smith’s collection, Eames explores the ‘things’ that tell our stories. Just as the propeller from the Barnwell Brother’s aeroplane recalls the story of the first aircraft flight in Scotland, Eames creates artworks that recall the story of our everyday lives. Paintings, drawings, and constructions form a series that look at how we ‘take flight’ as individuals and collectively, exploring the aspiration that propels us through childhood and beyond.
Paul Eames graduated from Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts, London in 1987. In addition to exhibiting as a solo artist, he is also one of the six members of the Stirling-based artist group, Hanging Together who, between 1993 and 2014, created one-off installations and interventions, primarily in non-art spaces.
We are pleased to annouce that The Story of Flight will remain on view until 27 September 2020.
