Celebration of The Smith at 150 in Poetry and Song

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum in 1874, the Poetry Sharing Group which meets there every month is inviting members of the public to an evening of poetry and song.  The group will be reciting and singing works inspired by The Smith’s wonderful collection of artwork and objects, its garden and grounds, and of course its founder, Thomas Stuart Smith. All readings will be accompanied by images from The Smith’s collection.

Poems will range from works by Scottish literary greats such as Rabbie Burns and Robert Louis Stevenson, to those of the contemporary Scottish poet James Robertson. It will also include original works by the group’s members, many of whom are published poets.  The evening promises to be one to remember.

We look forward to welcoming you.
